A Meditation for Letting Go
So many religious traditions practice meditation as a way of calming the mind, releasing pain, focusing the attention, and ultimately developing spiritual insight. After the loss of someone held dear, we have a tremendous amount to ‘release,’ not only pain and grief but often much more complex emotions as well. This simple meditation was developed to help name just some of the ways we want to both hold on and let go as part of our healing.
If you wish, you can practice this meditation with intentional breathing – reading a line and pausing to inhale the sentiment, then reading the next line and with intention, using your breath to release it. What else might you add to a litany of holding on and letting go?
Breathe in love
